New Korean Restaurants in Penang

Avid fans of Korean food will be glad to know that there’s been an explosion of Korean restaurants in Penang lately; strengthening the Korean food scene in Penang. Many Penangites have professed their love for Korean food, which is evidently seen from the relentless queue outside most Korean restaurants. Ken Tho shares his new found below:

Uncle Jang Dak Galbi
Popular for its Dak Galbi, Korean stir-fried marinated Chicken with Korean Go Chu Jang sauce, Uncle Jang is one of the more affordable Korean restaurants compared to its contenders. Their signature dish, Dak Galbi, is priced at Rm 21 per pax; with a minimum order of 2 pax required. The pork-free restaurant has other delectable dishes to offer, namely Korean Ginseng Chicken, Korean Pancake, Korean Cold Noodles and Chicken Bulgogi.

Korean's Table All Ban
Unlike most conventional Korean restaurants, Korean’s Table All Ban serves Korean food in a finer way (fine-dining concept). The menu is fixed with set dishes, unlike most Korean restaurants where you get to choose your desired dishes. They are the only Korean restaurant that does this in Penang (so far). The restaurant serves no ala-carte menu; that being said, you can choose between Seok Chan (Rm 29.90+ per person for 9 course) or Man Chan (Rm 39.90+ per person for 12 course). Somewhat unique concept but rest assured, Korean’s Table All Ban serves quality and delicate Korean food.

Han Sang Korean Well-Being Food
Han Sang Korean Well-Being Food is a hidden gem that awaits to be unearthed. Unlike conventional sit-down Korean restaurants, Han Sang skews towards a semi fast-food concept. It has a small menu and specializes in Bibimbap and a couple variants of Toppoki. Every order (from Rm 16) of their Set comes with complimentary side dishes and home-made Korean drinks.
